ActiveGrid Web 2.0 Application Tracks 200,000 Students

Attendance Tracking System Delivered by Eljakim IT

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — 12 July 2007 — ActiveGrid, Inc., a leading provider of Enterprise Web 2.0™ solutions, today announced that several Dutch school districts have deployed an attendance tracking system based on ActiveGrid and built by ActiveGrid partner Eljakim IT (EIT). The system currently provides attendance tracking for over 200,000 students and is used by over 500 education officials and social workers.

The attendance tracking system - called Carel - is a web-based, e-government application that manages student attendance in the Netherlands to improve the graduation rates. The Carel application consists of over 300 web pages and 112 database tables that implement a sophisticated workflow for teachers, administrators and social workers.

EIT chose ActiveGrid for building the Carel application after reviewing a number of other solutions, including PHP and Microsoft .NET. "ActiveGrid is quite simply the fastest way to build real-world web applications," said Eljakim Schrijvers, CEO of EIT. "All the other Web 2.0 tools we have evaluated are either much more complex or suitable only for very small applications."

The Carel application includes sophisticated, role-based security and integration with legacy mainframe databases. The application also provides web and pdf-based reporting as well as the ability to export student information to Excel and Word documents.

"EIT has proven that ActiveGrid provides a competitive edge for systems integrators," said Cal Ball, VP of Alliances for ActiveGrid. "ActiveGrid gives systems integrators unparalleled productivity to prototype Web 2.0 applications and unmatched flexibly to respond to customer requests during the development cycle."
